Many people immediately panic when they get locked out, and with good reason. Getting locked out can be very frightening to those who stand to lose something when they get locked out – some might lose their sense of security, while others simply worry about the host of bad situations that could arise from being locked out by a locked door.
One way a locked door could get you locked out is if you have someone watch over your child for you as you go on an errand. The nanny and the child could, for some reason, want to go out too (maybe to play, or maybe to talk outside to a neighbor.) Whatever the reason, they get locked out because they left the door key inside the house and a blast of wind slams the door shut on them – hence, all three of you are locked out and with no way to open that locked door.
Another situation you could encounter is if you leave your car on the shoulder of a street to run an errand nearby – maybe you just wanted to buy a newspaper at the curb. When you return with newspaper in hand, you realize that you just got locked out of car, because the key locked in car cannot be reached (maybe the car windows are all tightly shut and so are the car doors.) This is an all-too-common scenario we all have faced at one time or another. A key locked in car makes you want to break your own car windows out of frustration and desperation.
When situations like these happen, try not to panic. You only got locked out and any locked door can eventually be unlocked given enough time. Your first option to unlock that locked door is to find an honest locksmith who will not gouge you with their prices and can do the job well too (without wrecking your house or car door in the process.) Be careful to find reputable locksmiths because some pretend to render service but are actually out to burglarize your home. One way to find good locksmiths is to find local associations that regulate the locksmith service industry.
Since locksmiths make it their business to know what to do when you get locked out of your home or locked out of car, you really will need their emergency services when you unfortunately do have to contend with a locked door. But the best scenario is when you don’t get locked out at all.
